I'm changing the rules for playing a card you can't physically put into play. The new rule is, you can't! Wait: except, Thrones still get to play cards a 2nd time that went into play the first time but then vanished (I would like to kill this, but players are too attached to it). This rule as phrased by Ingix:
"An effect that tries to play a card for the first time can only do so when the card is where the effect expects it to be. If it can play it the first time, subsequent plays will also work.".
The main things this actually does are: 1) in exotic situations where you try to play a card but it's been lost, you now don't get to play it (e.g. something something Village Green); and 2) some cards that have tortured wordings to deal with these situations will now not need them (e.g. Innovation will say: "The first time you gain an Action card during each of your turns, you may play it.").
This change requires errata to one innocent bystander, Citadel. It will be: "The first time you play an Action card during each of your turns, play it twice instead."
(I don't know when the next printing of Renaissance will hit stores, but we're doing the work now.)
Offizielle Regel in der Wiki hat geschrieben:An effect can move a card if it specifies where the card is coming from, or if the effect put the card where it is now.
If a card isn't where the effect would expect it to be, or has moved away from there and then back, it can't move the card.
- Played cards expect to be in play; they can't move themselves if they aren't.
- Gained cards are expected to be where they were gained to, even if this isn't the discard pile.
- Cards in discard piles can be moved even if covered up by other cards; cards on top of a deck can't be moved once covered up.
